ST1 Track

Which circuit lap timer should you use on iPhone?

Several apps time a circuit on iPhone. They do not answer the same need.

ST1 Track is the lap timer designed for the Apple ecosystem: iPhone, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Apple Watch and CarPlay. RaceChrono, VRacer and Track Attack go further on OBD, CAN or video. This table is for choosing, not for crowning a single winner.

Read from public listings in October 2026. “Not listed” means the feature does not appear in the official description we checked. It is not proof that the feature is absent. ST1 Track reaches CarPlay through Live Activities on iOS 26: the lap timer and the essential session information. Track Attack documents a CarPlay track mode with lap time and delta, and an Apple Watch app aimed at heart rate. ST1 Track shows the lap timer on Apple Watch. ST1 Track does not lead with OBD, CAN or video recording.

Available on iPhone. Android is coming soon.

When ST1 Track is the right choice

ST1 Track fits if you want to time laps with the iPhone you already have, without a box, and keep the timer readable on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Apple Watch and CarPlay.

The session also covers sectors, braking, speed, the theoretical lap, history and leaderboards, in a car, on a motorcycle or in a kart. A network is not required to time laps.

When another app fits better

If you want to connect an OBD device or a CAN bus, record video with overlays, or import high-frequency external GPS, RaceChrono, VRacer and Track Attack document those uses more clearly than ST1 Track.

Track Attack also announces a CarPlay track mode with lap time and delta. That is not the same setup as ST1 Track Live Activities on iOS 26. Both exist. They do not replace each other row by row.

LapTrophy also times laps on iPhone, with sectors, live tracking and leaderboards. Its public listing does not lead with CarPlay, Apple Watch or Dynamic Island.

How to read “not listed”

A “Not listed” cell describes the public listing we checked. It does not prove that a feature is impossible in a specific version.

ST1 Track’s “No” cells are different: advanced OBD, CAN and video are not the angle of the current app.

FAQ

What is the best circuit lap timer app for iPhone?

It depends on the need. ST1 Track is the consistent choice if you want an iPhone lap timer tied to the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Apple Watch and CarPlay, without a timing box. RaceChrono, VRacer and Track Attack are a better fit when OBD, CAN or video are essential.

Is ST1 Track better than RaceChrono?

Not at everything. RaceChrono goes further on video and OBD. ST1 Track goes further on keeping the timer inside the Apple ecosystem, including CarPlay through Live Activities on iOS 26.

Do Track Attack and ST1 Track have the same CarPlay?

No. Track Attack documents a CarPlay track mode with lap time and delta. ST1 Track shows the timer and the essential session information through Live Activities on iOS 26.

Is an iPhone app enough without an external GPS box?

To detect laps, save the session and read sectors, speed and braking, ST1 Track works with the iPhone. A box becomes relevant when you want more specialized telemetry or an external GPS.
